Admission Requirements

In order to apply for a bachelor’s or master’s degree programme at the HfTL, EU citizens must provide proof of one of the university entrance qualifications listed below:


HfTL Entry Qualifications

•General or specialized higher education entrance qualification

•Technical college diploma

•Master craftsman certificate

•Certificates recognised by the state of Saxony as equivalents to the above

•Vocational training and an HfTL entrance exam


Entry Qualifications for Full-Time Bachelor’s Programmes

In order to apply for a bachelor or master degree programme at the HfTL, Germans and EU-citizens need one of the entry qualifications listed below:

•General or specialized higher education entrance qualification

•Technical college diploma

•Master craftsman certificate

•Certificates recognised by the state of Saxony as equivalents to the above

•Vocational training and an HfTL entrance exam


Entry Qualifications for Co-Operative Bachelor’s Programmes

Applicants for the co-operative bachelor programmes at the HfTL need to have one of the following entry qualifications:

•General of specialized higher education entrance qualification

•Technical college diploma

•Master craftsman certificate•Certificates recognised by the state of Saxony as equivalents to the above

You will also need to provide:

•proof that you are receiving training in or are employed in a technical departmentof an ICT company


Entry Requirements for Full-Time Master’s Programmes

1. A Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree in communications engineering, communications and information technology, business information systems, or information and communications technologywith 180 ECTS credits and a good or above-average final grade.

2. Applicants with a BEng or BSc degree in a related field such as electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics must provide proof of having good or above-average grades in the subject-specific requirements listed in the module handbook. This also applies to degrees obtained from foreign universities and which are recognised in Germany.

3. A special interest in science and technology, social competence, a good command of the German language as well as English language skills.The board of examiners is responsible for deciding which applicants meet the requirements. Where necessary, the board of examiners may call applicants in for a selection interview.
